Spring through summer on spate rivers and big freestone rivers. Fish it under an indicator through rapids and white water, or bounce it on a tight line downstream.

Why it works

Stonefly nymphs are aggressive predators themselves. The rubber legs keep working even when the current is hauling the fly around — it looks alive when most patterns look drowned.
