Lunn’s answer to the pale watery spinner — a yellow-dyed hackle stalk body and buff hackle points, pale enough to disappear against a bright evening sky, which is exactly the problem it solves. The naturals are almost translucent and a fly tied any darker gets refused.

Summer evenings when the spinners are over the water and the rises are quiet sips in the flat tails. Greenhalgh’s rule applies: pale watery females crawl down to lay and end up trapped in and under the film, so fish it ungreased and let it sit low.
