Light Sculpin
Slovenian sculpin streamer
TroutSubsurface
A pale-toned sculpin imitation for Slovenian marble trout — the natural Cottus gobio is a pale sand-and-grey fish that holds on the riverbed of the Soča and tributaries. Marble trout over 50cm feed heavily on it. This is the streamer you tie on when you want the biggest fish in the pool.
Fish this when
Spring and autumn on the Soča system for large marble and brown trout. Strip it slowly along the bottom in runs and deep pools — target fish over 50cm.
Why it works
Miller's Thumb is the primary prey of large Slovenian marble trout. A pale, bottom-hugging sculpin imitation stripped slowly triggers the predatory response that a nymph cannot.
