A palmered fly tied to suggest downwing sedges, pale caddis, or emergent duns. Practical, effective, built to fish rather than to impress. The sort of pattern that doesn't photograph well but kills trout consistently.

Fish this when

During the mayfly season on Corrib, Mask, and the limestone loughs of the west of Ireland — typically from mid-May into June. Fish it on a drifting boat when the duns are hatching.

Why it works

The pale body and soft wings suggest a newly-hatched or drowned dun exactly where the trout expect to find them. In the wave, a drifting Gosling is almost indistinguishable from the real thing.
