Water boatman pattern
TroutFilm

A flat, oval body in silver and brown with a pearlescent back — a passable imitation of the water boatman that darts through weedy stillwaters with jerky, purposeful swimming.

Fish this when

Autumn on weedy stillwaters when boatmen are active. Fish it in short, erratic pulls to mimic the insect's jerky swimming, or inch it along the bottom.

Why it works

Water boatmen are substantial and actively hunted. Pearlescent back reads like natural gas bubble. Jerky retrieve triggers predatory response.
