Chubby Chernobyl

Western foam searcher / indicator dry
TroutSurface

The Chernobyl Ant with a polypro wing and a fatter foam body — far easier to track on big, broken water and buoyant enough to suspend a heavy nymph. The default Western searching dry, equally at home through a salmonfly hatch or as the top half of a dry-dropper.

Fish this when

Summer on Western freestone rivers, prospecting likely water or floating a nymph below. Effective through stonefly and hopper season; drift it tight to the banks and through riffle seams.

Why it works

The big foam body suggests a stonefly or hopper and stays up in the roughest water, while the bright wing keeps it visible at distance. Its buoyancy makes it the standard anchor for a dry-dropper rig.
