Fish this when
Summer on Western freestone rivers and tailwaters, prospecting banks and seams or as the indicator fly above a nymph dropper. Twitch it occasionally to suggest a struggling terrestrial.
Why it works
Big foam terrestrials sit unsinkable in rough water and present a large, leggy silhouette that opportunistic trout move for. As a hopper-dropper anchor it both catches fish and floats a nymph at depth.
