Mop Fly

Bead-head mop-chenille worm
Carp · Barbel · Trout · GraylingDeep

A microfibre-chenille worm off a bathroom mop head, jigged on a bead — not subtle, but effective wherever fish are grubbing on soft, worm-like bottom food. Works the stained margins carp and barbel favour just as well as it works a Euro-nymph rig for trout and grayling.

Fish this when

Urban or pressured coarse water in stained conditions, or as a searching point fly on trout/grayling Euro-nymph rigs year-round. Works best static or barely moving on the bottom, or dead-drifted deep.

Why it works

The chenille body undulates with the lightest current, giving a lifelike wriggle with no help from the tier. Suggests larvae, maggots, worms and similar edible muck to opportunistic coarse fish and salmonids alike.
