Carp Bug

Core sight-fishing pattern
CarpShallow

The foundational carp fly: small, buggy, and sinkable. Cast well ahead of tailing or cruising fish and let it drop to the bottom. No retrieve — wait for the take.

Fish this when

Tailing carp, mud puffs, visible feeding on silt flats or gravel. Put the fly where the nose is going, not where the fish is.

Why it works

Compact profile suggests nymphs, crayfish legs, molluscs or bottom debris. Sinking fast enough to reach carp level before they move on is the whole game.
