Asp are one of the few European freshwater predators where a small popper is a serious pattern, not a novelty. Move it fast — pop-and-pause rather than the steady wake you'd use for bass.

Fish this when

Asp are visibly smashing baitfish on top. Summer surface chases, low-light feeding spells, calm or lightly rippled water.

Why it works

The popping cup displaces water and creates noise that triggers an attack response from asp in hunting mode. Small size matches the baitfish they are chasing.
