Fish this when
Bigger asp in late summer or autumn, reservoir edges, big river seams where fish are keying on larger baitfish.
Why it works
The hinge creates a tail kick on the pause that mimics a swimming baitfish. Bigger asp can become size-selective — a jointed fly looks more substantial without becoming a pike pattern.
