A major northern Swedish salmon river and one of the country's four protected national rivers (safeguarded from hydropower). Vindelälven is important and well known, but recent Baltic salmon assessment material flags worrying parr declines here — making it as much a river of concern as a river of opportunity. Brown trout, grayling, and Arctic char throughout the system. Include it honestly: this is a significant conservation-heavy river where stock trajectory matters more than destination marketing.
