The Upsalquitch is one of the main Restigouche tributaries — a substantial river in its own right, with a long summer season running from the first multi-sea-winter fish in June through reliable grilse fishing in August and September. Pool structure is varied: long glides, short rapid sections, classic pool tails that fish well on a floating line at any height. The name is Mi'kmaq, like most of the rivers in this system. Fish it methodically — the river is large enough that hurrying through the pools is the reliable way to miss the fish holding in them.
