PEI's most notable salmon river — a niche fishery in a province not typically associated with salmon angling. Small, sandstone-based, with rapid 3-hour spate response. The Morell holds a small but genuine Atlantic salmon run and brook trout throughout. Very short accessible water. Standard eastern Canadian patterns (Bomber, Green Machine) work here. More of a curiosity than a destination fishery — but a real one, and worth the detour for anyone who wants to say they have taken a salmon on the fly in Prince Edward Island. Atlantic salmon are managed under DFO conservation rules — mandatory catch-and-release of large (multi-sea-winter) salmon applies in most areas, with any grilse retention strictly limited by zone; check current regulations before fishing.
