Lough Cowey is one of the stronger lowland stocked-brown-trout waters in the DAERA estate because it also carries pike and some roach and has a reputation for good overwintered fish in early spring. It is not a wild-trout destination, but it is a useful accessible stillwater with broader appeal than a simple stocked pond. The disabled-access concrete platform is currently closed and that operational note matters.
