Garth is the other half of Cilcain's fishing — sister water to Cae Newydd, a short distance across the same stretch of Clwydian hillside, and stocked with the same steady hand. Rainbows go in to keep the sport ticking over; wild browns hold the margins and the deeper water and generally know more about the lake than the stockies ever will. It's a modest, well-used club fishery rather than a destination, which is exactly its appeal — buy a ticket at the Community Shop in Cilcain, walk up, and fish without any of the fuss that bigger waters seem to generate. Reliable, low-key, and close enough to be a regular fixture rather than an expedition.
