Fagnano is a big, cold water at the world's southern edge — a glacially-formed lake straddling the Chile-Argentina border beneath the Cordillera Darwin, known locally on the Argentine side as Lago Kami. It holds sea-run brown trout of genuine size, fish that have run in from the Beagle Channel system and grown hard and heavy in Tierra del Fuego's short, intense season. Takes come at dawn, dusk, or under cloud, when the fish move on the flats and drop-offs; a Sunray Shadow, Collie Dog or Stoat's Tail fished with purpose, worked slowly through the taking time, is the method that produces results. Wind here is a constant, often violent, factor, and access into this remote country needs planning well in advance. This is specialist water, and it fishes on the sea trout's terms, not the angler's.
