About this water

Brynhenllys is a Mid Wales stocked fishery sitting on sandstone, the kind of honest little water that asks nothing of you but a few hours and a bit of patience. There's no mystique here and that's rather the point. The trout are stocked and willing, but willing isn't the same as foolish, and on a bright still day they'll sulk in the depths and make you work for it. Come on a grey afternoon with a breeze putting a ripple on the surface and the whole place opens up. It fishes best cool, which suits the Welsh weather, since cool is mostly what's on offer. A reliable place to relearn that catching fish is only part of why you came.
