Caddisflies
Below the lake the Akan gathers into a river and runs south through forested volcanic country, and the managed water just under the outflow — catch-and-release, charged, and the real jewel of the system — is as fine a rainbow-and-char river as a visitor will find in Hokkaido. Unhurried fishing in a quiet northern valley where the forest comes down to the bank.
