The plan
Plan A

Start with Microtricóptero de Becada (18-20) on a As per local method. If that does not produce, switch depth or speed before changing the pattern entirely.

Plan B

Fish early and late, try deeper during the heat of the day with a fast-sinking line.

Watch for

Evening tends to be the best period in summer — stay late if you can for a sedge or spinner fall.

Either bank or boat

Good ripple suits both bank and boat. Bank: work inflows, dam walls, and points. Boat: broadside drift covering wind lanes.

About this water

A small urban reservoir near Avilés, formerly managed as a coto intensivo for put-and-take rainbow trout. Since COVID, the stocking programme has not been clearly reinstated and local reports suggest the fishery has shifted toward carp-dominated coarse fishing with occasional brown trout. Official documentation from the Principado covers permits and seasonal adjustments but does not describe any current intensive trout stocking. The reservoir still functions as a fishing venue, but fly anglers specifically targeting trout should manage expectations and check recent reports before travelling.
