Göta älvs Lilla Edet–Trollhättan fiskevårdsområde (formed 1991, 132 rights-holders) controls the stretch of Sweden's largest river from north of the Lilla Edet power station up to the suspension bridge in Trollhättan, plus the tributary Slumpån up to Stångforsen. This is genuine big-river salmon and sea-trout water on one of the country's most significant Atlantic salmon systems — Göta älv carries over 20 fish species in total, with pike, perch, zander, burbot and eel alongside the migratory run. Day tickets (50 SEK), weekly (100 SEK) and season (200 SEK) permits are sold via iFiske; under-15s fish free. Official rules: 45cm minimum size for salmon, sea trout and zander, closed season 15 Oct–31 Mar, max 2 rods/person, max 2 salmon/day, eel fully protected year-round. Slumpån itself is the named tributary reach within this larger water — a quieter, smaller-scale alternative to the broad main stem.
