River Brora

Sutherland, GB-SCTspatesandstone20 kmSalmon river

A compact Sutherland salmon system structured around Loch Brora rather than a single continuous river. Above the loch lie the Upper Brora and the important Blackwater tributary; below it, the Lower Brora runs about three miles to the estuary. Access is mainly estate-controlled and less transparent than the Alness or Lossie — present it as limited unless current lets are confirmed.

Tactical notes

A river-and-loch system: the main river beats run upper (above the loch, with the Blackwater) and lower (below the loch to the estuary), with Loch Brora and the estuary offering more accessible salmon and sea-trout fishing. Lower-river lettings rotate north/south bank rods across upper/lower beats to keep rods apart. Fish fresh water after rain.
