Achagour sits in the Highlands and asks little of you beyond turning up and paying attention. It's the sort of acidic upland water where the trout aren't there to be admired, exactly, but to be caught — stocked fish that have got their feet under the table and fish a touch warier than the day they arrived. There's nothing grand about it, which is rather the point. On a soft, grey day with a ripple working across the surface you'll do well, and on a flat, bright one you'll mostly think about things. Cool water fishes best. The fish hold deeper than you'd like in a bright spell and come up willingly when the light goes off.
