Grey Cased Caddis

Cased-caddis larva nymph
TroutSubsurface

A cased-caddis nymph tied for the Soča and Krka — rivers with exceptional caddisfly populations and marble trout that have learned to pick cased larvae off the riverbed. The grey pebble-like case mimics the sand-grain and mineral cases that Slovenian Limnephilids construct.

Fish this when

Year-round on Slovenian and Balkan rivers with good caddis populations. On the bottom in deep runs — trout and marble trout pick them up the same way they take real cases.

Why it works

Cased caddis larvae are one of the most abundant food sources on Slovenian rivers. A realistic grey case body on a weighted hook sits and drifts exactly like the natural.
