Penrhaeadr — the name nods to a waterfall somewhere in its plumbing — carries wild brown trout and a resident population of perch, which is unusual enough among these Talybont lakes to be worth mentioning. The perch won't trouble anyone chasing trout on a floating line, but they're there if you fancy a change of target on a slow afternoon. Otherwise it behaves like its stablemates: fly water, day ticket from the garage or pub in the village, April through September, and a walk-in that keeps the crowds away. Nobody's writing guidebooks about Penrhaeadr. That's rather the point of fishing it.
