Garnffrwd Park is a landscaped spring-fed lake in West Wales, tucked into woodland, the sort of place that looks more like a country garden than a trout water until a fish rolls under the trees and reminds you what you're there for. Spring-fed water tends to run clean and even-tempered, which means decent hatches and trout that actually look up. That's a gift not every stillwater gives you. It fishes well across the seasons — buzzer in the cool months, sedge and damsel as it warms, and proper dry-fly sport when the surface comes alive. Mixed geology and abundant natural food make for trout in good nick, feeding on the real thing as often as not. Fish it on a mild overcast day with a light ripple and you'll have a job picking a fly.
